摘要

Edentulism is a condition where there is loss of teeth, that changes the lifestyle and result in systemic changes. The concept of mandibular implant-retained overdentures has been used for many years. Successful reports were published originally with mandibular root form implants in the anterior mandible. The placement of implants increases the denture stability and chewing ability, so the patient can take more nutrition. Stability of the implant overdenture keeps the muscle active and reduces muscle atrophy, also enhances psycologic confidence of the patient. As the data gathered on this prosthetic modality grow, implant-retained overdentures are gaining even greater acceptance and justifying for the edentulous patients.

無牙症是一種牙齒脫落的情況，它會改變人的生活方式並導致全身性疾病變化。下顎植體固位覆蓋式義齒的概念已使用多年，在下顎前牙區植入人工植體已有許多成功的案例發表。植體的放置增加了義齒的穩定性和咀嚼能力，使患者可以攝取更多的營養，活動義齒的穩定性則保持了肌肉活動並能減少肌肉萎縮的狀況，同時也增強了患者的自信心。隨著相關案例文獻越來越多，植體固位覆蓋式活動義齒已成為無牙患者的首選治療方式之一。
