The surface plasmon resonance analysis can be used both to characterize various biomolecular affinity interactions including DNA-DNA, RNA-DNA, Protein-DNA, and Protein-Protein (e.g., antibody-antigen) bindings and to monitor the real time binding of Label-free analyte biomolecules to the sensor surface in a short period of time because it is extremely sensitive. In addition, the SPR technology will likely be a powerful optical technique for monitoring the adsorption of biomolecules into patterned microarray in the future.
