數學學術地位的提升與和算之公開化

The elevation of the academic status of mathematics and the popularization of Wasan

摘要


十八世紀中期,關流和算家有馬賴徸著《拾璣算法》,公開關流重要的數學知識內容,加以身居一藩之主,提昇了數學學術地位,影響了時人對數學的看法以及學習數學的風氣。無論從有馬賴徸所出版的《拾璣算法》,或是他在社會政治上的地位與影響力,乃至資助藤田貞資出版《精要算法》來看,他對於和算知識的公開,以及間接促進了十八世紀末期和算知識普及化,實為重要關鍵要角。

In the middle of the 18th century, the Wasan mathematician Arima Yoriyuki in the Seki school compiled the Shuki Sampo which made known to the public the important mathematics knowledge in Seki school. With his social status as the lord of a feudal domain, he practically elevated the academic status of mathematics and influenced the contemporaneous views on mathematics. From publishing Shuki Sampo, to his influence of political position and social class, and also to the financial support he given to Fujita Sadasuke to publish the Seiyo Sampo, we can see that he really played an important role in the process in making Wasan knowledge known to the public and in the promotion of Wasan in the later period of the 18^(th) century.
