唐代科舉制度與數學

State Examination System and Mathematics in the Tang Dynasty

摘要


本文撰寫的目的是希望以中國的唐代盛世入手,談討唐代的數學與科舉制度的關係。本題目鮮有被歷史學家探討。中國的數學曾經處於強勢,在中國的盛世年代下,數學到底是如何被看待呢?學者一般認為唐代的科舉制度不利數學發展。本文旨在為讀者提供另外一個角度去了解唐代數學的科舉制度數學的關係,並明白唐代數學並非如一般學者所說的面目不堪。目前眾多數學史研究都只著重研究數學家以及數學文獻,鮮少互相運用社會學以及史學層面去理解數學。因此,本文的研究方法是以數學史出發,運用各種數學文獻,例如各種算經和數學史家的研究資料,輔以社會科學的理論,在數學史的基礎上以社會學的角度去理解數學的價值以及與科舉制度之間的關係。

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the relationship between mathematics and the state examination system in the Tang dynasty. This topic has rarely been explored by historians. China's mathematics was once in a strong position. How was mathematics viewed in China's prosperous age? Scholars generally believe that the imperial examination system in the Tang dynasty was not conducive to mathematics development. The purpose of this paper is to provide readers with another perspective to understand the relationship between the development of mathematics and state examination system in the Tang dynasty. Many studies of the history of mathematics only focus on mathematicians and mathematics literature, and rarely combine sociological and historical perspectives to understand mathematics. Therefore, this paper is written based on the history of mathematics, using various mathematical documents, such as Suanjing and other research conducted by historians, supplemented by sociological theories, in order to understand the value of mathematics from the perspective of sociology.
