EPA Environmental Monitoring and Information Department points out that, due to the depletion of the ozone layer, there is a relative increase in the ultraviolet (UV) index. Ultraviolet rays, whether it is sunny, cloudy or rainy days, can penetrate unnoticed deep into the skin. The majority of the general public is unaware of the possible dangers that can be posed by ultraviolet radiation. This study is conducted with a questionnaire designed specifically for students at China University of Science and Technology (CUST). The purpose of this study is to investigate whether college/university students have a full understanding of UV rays and the potential damage caused by excessive sun exposure as well as the knowledge concerning the use of sun protection measures. The findings of this study will be discussed along with some suggestions for future health education on sun protection.
