由歐洲數位視訊廣播技術發展組織(Digital Video Broadcasting Project; DVB)所提出之掌上型數位視訊廣播(DVB-Handheld; DVB-H)技術規格,已於2004年中邁入驗證與標凖化程式。以地面數位視訊廣播(DVB-Terrestrial; DVB-T)傳輸技術標凖爲基礎,DVB-H技術增加可以滿足掌上型裝置所需之低功耗、高移動性、共通平臺與綱路切換服務不中斷等功能。此外,未來可藉由行動通訊綱路與DVB-H廣播網絡之整合提供使用者更多樣化的內容與互動式服務。本文將針對DVB-H中時間切片(Time-slicing)與多重協定封裝-前向糾錯(Multi-Protocol Encapsulation-Forward Error Correction; MPE-FEC)兩項關鍵技術、網絡架構、軟式交遞(Soft handover)機制及搭配行動通訊網絡之互動式服務應用作—概括性的介紹。
The technology specification of Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) developed by the European DVB Project has been under the standardization and validation phases. Based on the transmission technology defined by the DVB- Terrestrial (DVB-T) standard, the DVB-H further provides the functions of low- power, high- mobility, common platform and seamless handover between networks, etc. for applications in handheld devices. Moreover, various contents as well as interactive-services can be provided to the users through the cooperation between the DVB-H and cellular networks. In this paper, the key technologies time-slicing and multi-protocol encapsulation-forward error correction (MPE-FEC), the network structure and soft handover mechanism, and the applications associated with DVB-H are introduced.
