During the summer and winter of 2007 and 2008, we surveyed the west side of Hui-Sun Forest Experimental Station and part of the Meiyuan community for the land snail fauna. Thirty-one species in 23 genera of 12 families of land snails were identified from 773 specimens. Eighteen of the 31 species are locally rare here, 8 species are common and 5 are moderately common. The most abundant species is Palaina formosana (Diplommatinidae) and the secondly abundant is Parakaliella depressa (Helicarionidae). Six species of the 31 recorded species have only one specimen collected. The family Helicarionidae has 8 species recorded and has the highest species richness. An un-described sinistral camaenid was found and will be described elsewhere. The results of this survey can serve as the basic information of issues on the sustainable use of biological resources.
