China shot down an aged weather satellite, Fengyun-1, by launching a ground-to-air missile on January 11, 2007 at an altitude of 800 kilometers from the Earth. China's action attracted world-wide attention. This paper aims to analyze the US-China disputes over space policy, associated ballistic missile defense policy, and nuclear policy during the Bush era from 2001 to 2008.
