This study presents the comparison of using a proportional valve and a servo valve on the position set-point control in a hydraulic servo system with a constant loading. Results of the PID control show that the servo valve can be generalized for the set-point control at different positions. The Proportional valve can not be generalized for the set-point control at different positions but its response is faster than that of the servo valve with designed fuzzy algorithms control. Moreover, the fuzzy controllers work as well under 20 kgw loading condition. Thus, considering both the economic effect and the acceptable response performance, the present study suggests that proportional valve can be considered to replace the servo valve on the industrial application.
