Taiwan and the Outside World: With Particular Reference to Europe and South East Asia

This paper takes the perspective of Taiwan reaching to the outside world for the sake of expanding its international space vis-à-vis China's policy of isolating it despite improving cross-Strait relations. The paper focuses both on Taiwan's relations with the European Union (EU) and with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states, as it wishes to be part of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
