Color is everywhere. Fundamental color principles (hue, brightness, saturation, contrast color, etc...) are widely applied in our daily life. However, innovations on fundamental color education are essentially ignored. Traditional classroom instructions on color fundamentals fail to expose learners in real settings that allow them to manipulate color principles and experience the effects. This study intends to develop a mobile App that enables learners to manipulate and experience the variety of color based on appropriate color principles in game settings. Moreover, past research on mobile game-based learning tended to focus on the design of game systems and directly examine the learning effects of the systems. It seems to overlook that acquiring appropriate learning strategies is substantial. In light of this, two types of gaming strategies (discovery, and reception) will be developed and the variations of learning effects of these three strategies will be experimentally examined. The results of this study can be learned that all learners have improved their learning achievement after playing mobile game with color; both learner achievement and learning motivation of reception learning and discovery learning show significant differences. The conclusion of this study is that the use of mobile game-based learning in color education in our country can help learners improve their learning achievements. Whether discovering learning or accepting learning, they can all enhance the learning achievement of learners; The learning effects of reception learning is better than discovery learning. The conclusions of this research can extend the mobile game-based learning to the color education subject, and can also provide an innovative and effective teaching program for the teaching of color basic principles, and can also understand the learning effects of mobile games embedded in the reception learning and discovery learning.
