Mycoplasma suis is an important swine disease pathogen, and the major causes of the infectious anaemia of pigs. The clinical signs of acute infections periods include of fever, hemolytic anemia, hypoglycemia and sows reproductive failure. It also leads to the serious economic losses in pig industry all over the world. The main purpose of this study was to investigate on the infection status of M. suis in different regions of Taiwan. Blood samples were collected from 43 swine farms, in total 1,268 cases, during the April 2016 to March 2018, these samples were examined by M. suis specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay. The results shows M. suis positive rate reach 20.90% (265/1,268) and 93.02% (40/43) in total samples and swine farms, respectively. 31.17% (197/632) and 10.69% (68/636) shows positive rate of M. suis for sows and nursery pigs, respectively. Based on the four regions in Taiwan, the highest M. suis positive rate was in eastern Taiwan 35.94% (23/64), the 15.96% (91/570) positive rate was the lowest in southern Taiwan, 24.14% (147/609) and 16.00% (4/25) in central and northern Taiwan, respectively. The conclusion of this study, M. suis was commonly found in swine farms of Taiwan, especially in eastern and central.
