Arrhythmias can be diagnosed through 12-lead electrocardiogram. 24-hour electrocardiogram, and exercise electrocardiogram. It is supposed to be connected with frail constitution, attack of exogenous pathogens, and emotional stimulation. The common syndromes include heart-gallbladder deficiency, heart- spleen deficiency, flaring of fire due to yin deficiency, insufficiency of heart-yang, weak cardiac function with edema, heart-blood stagnation, disturbance of the heart by phlegmatic fire, insufficiency of heart qi, deficiency of both qi and yin. The commonly-used formula is Zhigancao Decotion on qi-blood deficiency.
