The social misery caused by political disturbance in nineteenth century has strong impact on Romantic composers' affection toward medieval art、religions and folk literature with their fantastic、mysterious and immaculate spiritual connotations. 《Annees de Pelerinage: Deuxieme annee-Italie》, inspired by Renaissance sculptures、 literature and painting, is one of Liszt's most important programmatic compositions.
