This research used an event study methodology to analyze the announcement effect of rediscount rate on the financial stocks in the period from 2000 to 2011. The empirical results are as follows: 1. The increases in the rediscount rate had more influence on the financial stocks than the decreases in the rediscount rate. 2. There existed some significant abnormal returns before the announcement. The market had over-reacts in the short run and would return to a normal level soon.
