This dissertation focuses on "animal transformation" developed in my graduation production: LAB No.1, and explores the most important tool of actors--the performing languages of body. There are three chapters in this dissertation. The first chapter traces back to the history of my own experience learning performance and how does it impact on this production and me. There comes following four parts, dancing, pantomime, mime and eastern drama aesthetics. The second chapter illustrates the origin of the work LAB No.1, introduces the creative team--Short One Player Theatre, and organizes the experiment process and development, as a reference of contemporary Taiwanese experimental phycical theater. The third chapter explains the four stages of animal transformation: realistic animal, kinetic energy, half animal and half human character, and realistic human character. This chapter includes the difficulties we encountered, the way we solved the difficulties, how we presented these four stages, and the illustrations of the pieces we have developed so far.
