本研究是利用日本Shintech公司的光學設計模擬軟體針對normally white TN mode液晶顯示器的參數設計以及光學特性的模擬分析,包括液晶材料元件、液晶層厚度、預傾角度數與摩擦配向角度等等參數的改變,透過光學計算分析,將得到的結果,如液晶分子的軸向分布和等電位分布以及液晶顯示器的光學特性等,再進一步討論找出最佳化參數,根據模擬結果,得知在相位差380nm~420nm之間、預傾角約在4°~6°時,可以改善顯示器的色偏現象。接著再搭配四種不同的單軸性相位差膜,在光學補償作用下,降低液晶層在傾斜方向漏光的問題,在水平視角與垂直視角±70°時,對比仍然達20:1以上,有效將視角範圍˚提高到160˚以上,達到提高對比度及超廣視角的光學特性,使TN mode 液晶顯示器有更佳的顯示品質要求,進而在實際應用上有所幫助。
In this study, the optical properties of the normally white TN mode liquid crystal display were analyzed by using LCD Master software from Shintech,Inc in Japanese. The principal parameters, including materials of liquid crystal, the thickness of cell gap, pretilt angle and rubbing angle were used to simulate with optical analyzer. The results of director alignment distribution and equal potential distribution were discussed in the liquid crystal cell. We also tried to find the best parameters. According to these results, we can improve the color shift for LCD between 380nm and 420nm of phase retardation, 4°and 6 of pretilt angle. Then, we reduced light leak of liquid crystal layer in inclined direction by using four different biaxial retardation films. The contrast ratio was above 20:1 in horizontal and vertical viewing angle ±70°,and improved the viewing angle range over 160˚for. We expect to obtain a TN mode liquid crystal display with high quality and wide viewing angle characteristics by using the simulated result.
