本研究針對文化大學大一學生,進行五題英文文法與詞義搭配的測驗,並從測驗的成績,檢視學生的搭配能力。測驗結果顯示,學生的搭配能力低落。經作者分析學生所填詞彙,發現學生之所以填出許多接受度低、甚至無法被接受的英文搭配詞彙,主要原因有六項。分析過程中,有關詞彙搭配的可能性,除了參考英英字典和搭配字典外,並加入以英文爲母語使用人士的意見。文末,作者並就搭配詞彙的教學提出四點意見。
A test of five questions on two grammatical and three lexcial collocations of knowledge was given to 128 Chinese Culture University freshmen to understand the students' collocational competence. The results demonstrated that the participants had great difficulty producing acceptable English collocations. After a close analysis of the answers, the researcher discovered six causes of the difficulty. In the analysis, English-English dictionaries, dictionaries of collocations, and native speakers were consulted about the collocability of the answers. The paper ends with some suggestions about the teaching of collocations.
