Youths in junior high school are in the developmental crisis of role identity and confusion. It is the most important for them to get peer group’s identity. Humor styles, teasing and aggressive behavior are strategies they will use in daily human relation. These strategies are key points that decide if youths have satisfying human relation or not. This study aims to understand the contents of humor styles, gelotophobia(the fear of being laughed at), gelotophilia(the joy of being laughed at), katagelasticism(the joy of laughing at others) and aggressive behavior of junior high school students, and the relationship of these three.
Researcher used Hsueh-Chih Chen and Yu-Chen Chan’s HSQ-TW and PhoPhiKat-TW scale, and Ying-Xun Chen’s Chinese aggressive scale to acquire the data of humor styles, gelotophobia, gelotophilia, katagelasticism and aggressive behavior of 1472 junior high school students in Taiwan. Research data are analyzed by Descriptive Statistics, Analysis of Variance, Analysis of Correlation and Analysis of Regression. The results were:
    1. Junior high school students with different gender showed significantly differences in the scores of humor styles, gelotophobia, gelotophilia, katagelasticism and aggressive behavior.
    a. Male junior high school students showed significantly higher self-enhancing humor and aggressive humor than female students, while female students showed significantly higher affiliative humor than male students.
    b. Male students showed significantly higher katagelasticism than female students. There were no significantly gender differences in gelotophobia and gelotophilia.
    c. Male students showed significantly higher overt aggression, instrumental aggression and reactive aggression than female students.
    2. Junior high school students’ humor styles, gelotophobia, gelotophilia and katagelasticism have significant prediction to their aggressive behavior, especially students with aggressive humor and katagelasticism have the most prediction.
    3. Junior high school students’ humor styles have significant prediction to their gelotophobia, gelotophilia and katagelasticism, especially students with self-defeating humor have the most prediction to gelotophobia, gelotophilia and katagelasticism.
According to the major findings of this research, author gave some suggestions for educational consultation and further studies in the future.
