The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among university students’ parent-child conflict, parent-child relational turbulence, coping strategies of conflict, and mental health. Researcher further examined the mediator role of parent-child relational turbulence and the moderator role of coping strategies of conflict between the link of parent-child conflict and mental health. Participants of this study comprised of 787 university students in Taiwan. Instruments of the study included “Parent-child Conflict Scale,” “Parent-child Relational Turbulence Scale,” “Coping Strategies of Conflict Scale,” “Psychological Distress Scale,” and “Flourishing Scale.” The data were analyzed via descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, multiple regression analysis, bootstrapping to examine the mediation effect and moderation effect. Results were as follows: 1. University students’ parent-child conflict, parent-child relational turbulence, and psychological distress positively correlated with each other, while flourishing negatively correlated with parent-child conflict and parent-child relational turbulence. 2. University students’ parent-child relational turbulence partially mediated the relationship between parent-child conflict and psychological distress, and played a fully mediator role between the relationship of parent-child conflict and flourishing. 3. None of the coping strategies played a moderator between the relationship of parent-child conflict and psychological distress, and compliance, conflict engagement and positive problem solving coping strategies moderated the link between parent-child conflict and flourishing. Based on the results, discussions and suggestions were provided to further researchers and practitioners.
