The Urinary Excretion of Total 17-Hydroxycorticosteroids in Healthy Infants and Children

1) Determinations of total urinary 17, 21-dihydroxy-20-ketosteroids on thirty six normal infants and children were made with Porter-Silber, Reddy, Smith, Kumaagaya's modification. The mean excretion of total urinary I 7-hydroxycorticoids for those who are above 2 years old was 5.71 mg/day with standard deviation 1.57mg and standard error 0.28mg. The range for this group of children was 2.21 mg/day to 11.65 mg/day. 2) There is no significant difference in total urinary 17-hydroxycorticoids excretion between the group over 8 years and the group from 2 to 8 years of age, neither is there a significant difference between both sexes.
