Transpiration rate and budbreak rate of shoots in vitro of Heng-San pear in the treatments of covering the graft union with paraffin liquid, paraffin viscous, paraffin, or parafilm were measured at 25℃ incubator. Effect of treatments on reducing transpiration rate of shoots in vitro decreased in order of parafilm, paraffin, paraffin viscous, and paraffin liquid. There was no direct relationship between budbreak and transpiration, rate of water due to sufficient water support. In field experiment, the highest successful rate of graft union was 73% in parafilm treatment and was lower than 5% in paraffin liquid or paraffin viscous.
