Chemical Synthesis of High-Tc Superconducting Oxides: Gel Method

High temperature superconducting Y-Ba-Cu-0 and La-Ba-Cu-0 systems were prepared by a chemical method. A high degree of homogeneity was obtained in the resulting systems. Onset temperatures of superconductivity at 97.X and 90.0K for YBa2Cu3O9-δ and LaBa2Cu3O9-δrespectively were obtained. Both magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistance measurements yielded similar results. The gel method is decribed in detail in this report.
