This study focused on the CO2 flux site of Cryptomeria japonica plantation located in Xitou Tract of NTUEF (hereafter refer red as NTUEF) to analyze the relationship between stock, Leaf Area Index (LAI), Clumping Index (CI) and Vegetation Index (VI) derived from satellite imagery at different levels as the future basis for estimating the carbon sequestration. SPOT satellite imagery in 2011 was collected to derive the NDVI value, CI, LAI measure d by fisheye lens and TRAC were then to correlate with the stock. The preliminary result showed that it was feasible to correlate the stock with investigating different levels, however, there existed different relationships at these levels: the average stock around the center of CO2 flux tower was 923.23 m^3 ha^(-1), the correlation coefficient (r) between stock and NDVI in 64 small plots and 16 large plots were 0.430 (p < 0.001) and 0.581 (p < 0.05), respectively. LAI measured in core plots by fisheye lens correlated negatively with stock both in subplot and plot scale, correlation coefficient were -0.614 (p < 0.01) and -0.714 (p = 0.286), respectively. The results indicated that the sample site was a mature stand of Cryptomeria japonica and its growth exceeded the ideal rotation age; stock, NDVI and LAI existed different variation in spatial scale.
