The Application of Customized Semitubular Hook Plate in the Treatment of Difficult Olecranon Fracture

Fracture of olecranon process of ulan had been successfully treated with excision or fixed with internal fixation. But for the comminuted olecranon process fracture, or combined with comminuted fracture of proximal ulna shaft, or small olecranon process fracture, they are difficult to fix and poor results followed. From Jan. 1993 to Dec. 1995, 7 patients (8 fractures) including five comminuted olecranon fractures, two combined with fracture of proximal ulna and one small chip fracture were treated with semitubular hook plate at our hospital. The healing time ranged form 2 months to 4 months. Pain free, solid bone union, good range of motion and functional status were obtained in the most cases. Customized semitubular hook plate is a good choice in the treatment of these difficult olecranon fracture.
