Paratesticular Liposarcoma Mimicking an Incarcerated Inguinal Hernia: Case Report and Literature Review

Liposarcomas of the paratesticular region are rare tumors that usually present as painless, slowly growing inguinal or scrotal masses, which are usually diagnosed as being an inguinal hernia or lipoma before surgical intervention. We report 1 case of a paratesticular liposarcoma that mimicked an incarcerated inguinal hernia, with the presentation of an acutely painful mass in the left inguinal area. The diagnosis of an incarcerated inguinal hernia was clarified by abdominal computed tomography to be a paratesticular tumor. A radical orchiectomy was performed, and a liposarcoma was diagnosed by the pathological examination. We review the clinical symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of paratesticular liposarcomas.
