This paper, reviews past indigenous and Western literatures, presents various angles of an issue that is usually neglected: female climacteric. The intent is to increase women's psychosomatic development and their ability to adapt to the process as well as breaking the negative influences from the society. The paper clarifies the definition of climacteric in addition to present historical envolvement. Furthermore, recent efforts of medical professionals, sociologists, psychologists, and anthropologists are noted. Problems encountered during researches and relevant findings of those studies make good suggestions for futurestudies. Finally, the authors invite more researchers to support and to contribute to the betterment of women, including more indigenous researches on climacteric.
