Time specification for cesarean section delivery is a particular phenomenon in Chinese culture. The purpose of this study is to explore the implied meaning of specified time in cesarean section delivery. Phenomenological method was adopted for conducting this study. The result shows that the implied meanings of specified time can be constructed as follows:
(1) Picking an auspicious moment for the security of both the mother and child. (2) Trying to pre-set a probable good destiny for the child. (3) Representing the concerns and wishes of the parents. Accordingly, the result also reveals the anxiety and fear of the mother in face of the delivery process and her adaptive behavior while assuming a new role in the transition period.
