Providing wide access to government information is essential to the modernization of a country and is an important hallmark of a democratic society. Under the great impact of Internet developments, government information has gone beyond its normal ranges. New trends in searching systems have amplified the access to government information. As many documents indicate, social scientists have been important users of government information. This study aims at providing the reader with an overall picture of how social scientists have been using government information in the World Wide Web era. The study serves as a reference point for the library and related government units in promoting government information and designing service plans, with the expectation that government information may present its rich and bright vitality in the information times.
