The Association between Problem Behaviors and Substance Abuse among Adolescents with Psychiatric Disorders

摘要

本研究使用structural equation model之分析方法檢視問題行為（包括偏差行為與心理衛生問題）與藥物濫用之並存程度。樣本為420個於1988年八月至1991年五月住入一青少年精神醫療部門之病人。研究中使用青少年自述(Youth Self-Report)量表測量多種問題行為，同時也以五個變項測量藥物濫用。再者，本研究亦分析問題行為與藥物濫用相關性之性別差異。研究發現指出犯罪行為、攻擊行為與注意力問題與藥物濫用具有顯著之相關性；重要之性別差異在於二者相關之程度而非與藥物濫用相關之問題行為類別。文中同時討論了本研究發現對既有文獻、實務、與未來研究之意含。

This study constructed a structural equation model to examine the co-occurrence of problem behaviors (deviant behaviors and mental health problems) and substance abuse. Data from 420 consecutively admitted patients of an adolescent psychiatric unit were used to test the research hypotheses. Gender differences in relation to the association between problem behaviors and substance abuse were also investigated. The results indicated that Delinquent Behaviors, Aggressive Behaviors, and Attention Problems were significantly associated with substance abuse. The important gender differences manifested in this study related to the magnitude of association rather than types of problem behaviors related to substance abuse. Implications for current literature, practice and future research were discussed.
