學校教科書對學生的發展影響至深,其中性別鮮明的形象,對於學生則會產生累進的影響,故簡視教科書中的性別意識是勢在必行。國中英語教科書中的任何內容與其他教科書一般,會形塑學生的意識型態,影響學生的性別角色發展。故本文以國中二年級第三、四冊國立編譯館英語科教科書為檢視對象,分析書中圖片及本文所蘊合的性別意識是否有所偏差。研究結果以為教科書編製者修正的依據,並破除課程中所持有的性別刻板印象,並藉此提供國內英語科相關教材之編輯單位,及未來九年一貫課程之外國語教材選用與設計者的參考。檢視結果顯示不論圖片或內文,男女的角色、人格特質與兩性關係上已逐漸脫離傳統的性別窠臼。但是部分仍然隱藏十分刻板的性別偏差失衡印象,極待修正。
The main purpose of the study was to examine the sex-biased contents in Book Three and Book Four of the English textbooks for junior high school students. In this study, the pictures and texts of English textbooks were examined separately, according to certain criterions, which were obtained by Fang. The result of the study was that although there were many gender-equitable pictures and texts in the English textbook, some sex-biased contents still existed and needed correcting as soon as possible.
