The aims of this study was to explore the priorities of nursing research topics and methods over the next decade in Taiwan among clinical nursing executives and nursing professors, association professors and assistant professors. A cross-sectional design using the Nursing Research Priorities Questionnaire and the Demographic Questionnaire was undertaken in this study. There were 508 persons invited and 376 participated at a 74% response rate. Major finding of this study were as follows: 1. Future priorities over the next decade in nursing research topics are nursing practice, nursing administration, and long-term care; 2. major nursing research methods are experimental research, longitudinal research and survey; and 3. demographic factors including educational background and work-related duties affecting researchers' view of topics and methods. Accordingly, the results of this study provide important implications for government funding policies.
