麥角硫因補充對鐵人三項選手運動後氧化壓力及發炎反應之影響

Effects of Ergothioneine Supplementation on Oxidative Stress and Inflammation in Triathletes After Triathlon

摘要


在細胞及動物研究指出,麥角硫因具有清除自由基、抗氧化與抗發炎之功效。本研究旨在探討補充麥角硫因對鐵人三項運動誘發體內氧化壓力與發炎情形之影響。實驗招募12名中年鐵人三項選手參與這次隨機雙盲實驗設計,受試者隨機分為補充麥角硫因組與安慰劑組,受試者進行14天麥角硫因補充或安慰劑補充,隨後參與一場標準鐵人三項競賽(游泳1.5公里、腳踏車40公里及跑步10公里),記錄其競賽成績。補充前、比賽前、比賽後立即點及比賽後48小時進行血液採集及分析,分析項目包含氧化壓力(血漿丙二醛)、抗氧化酵素(超氧化物歧化酶、過氧化氫酶、榖胱甘肽過氧化酶)、發炎指標(介白素6、腫瘤壞死因子-α、介白素-1β)及白血球數之生化值分析。研究結果顯示鐵人三項比賽後丙二醛、超氧化物歧化酶、榖胱甘肽過氧化酶、介白素6、腫瘤壞死因子-α及白血球數量明顯高於比賽前;在運動後丙二醛、超氧化物歧化酶、過氧化氫酶、榖胱甘肽過氧化酶及白血球數目的指標,麥角硫因補充組顯著低於安慰劑組,而介白素6、腫瘤壞死因子-α、介白素-1β指標在兩組間比較未達顯著差異。本研究結論為麥角硫因能降低運動後脂質過氧化物產生及維持體內之抗氧化酵素之效益,而在發炎反應情形影響較不明顯。

Many in vitro and in vivo studies have indicated that ergothioneine has free radical scavenging, anti-oxidation, and anti-inflammatory capacities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of oral ergothioneine supplementation on exercise-induced oxidative stress and inflammation in triathletes. Twelve participants were randomly assigned into either an ergothioneine supplementation trial (EGT) or placebo trial (PL, methylcellulose). After 14 days oral supplementation, all participants were challenged with a sprint triathlon consisted of 1.5 km swimming, 40 km biking, and 10 km running. The total perform time was monitored after the triathlon challenge. Blood samples were collected before supplementation, before triathlon exercise, immediately and 48 h after exercise. Blood markers of anti-oxidative status, including malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and catalase (CAT), and inflammatory markers, such as interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin- 1β (IL-1β) and white blood cell (WBC) count were quantified to verify the effect of ergothioneine on exercise-induced oxidative and inflammatory response. The results showed that sprint triathlon induced a significant increase in MDA, SOD, GPx, IL-6, TNF-α, and WBC levels in placebo trials. Interestingly, we found significantly lower MDA, SOD, CAT, GPX, and WBC after triathlon exercise in ergothioneine trial than those in placebo trial. However, there were no significant differences in biomarkers of inflammation between the trials. Therefore, we conclude that ergothioneine supplementation can effectively decrease the oxidative stress and improve the anti-oxidant status in triathletes.
