Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis and Chronic Diarrhea: A Case Report and Literature Review

摘要

嗜伊紅白血球性腸胃炎是一種罕見且病因未明的發炎性腸胃道疾病。本篇報告一位41歲的女性，臨床表現有腹痛及腹瀉，在一次例行性成人健康檢查中發現嗜伊紅白血球數過高，病理組織切片診斷爲嗜伊紅白血球結腸炎，以口服類固醇藥物治療後，臨床症狀獲得改善的案例。當面對一位有腸胃道症狀合併周邊嗜伊紅性白血球過多的中年患者時，我們基層醫師必須要牢記有嗜伊紅白血球性腸胃炎的可能性。

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare chronic inflammatory bowel condition of unclear etiology. We reported a 41-year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain and diarrhea. Laboratory data showed eosinophilia, reverse albumin/globulin ratio and positive stool occult blood test. Colonoscopy revealed multiple hyperemic patches and some shallow ulcers. Microscopically, the sections showed picture of chronic colitis with scattered eosinophils. The patient responded well to oral steroid therapy. The possibility of eosinophilic gastroenteritis should be kept in mind among primary physicians, especially when treating those middle-aged patients with any gastrointestinal symptoms associated with peripheral eosinophilia.
