The case report describes the perioperative nursing of a patient suffering from cerebellopontine angle tumor who received presigmoid approach for tumor extirpation. During May 17 to May 24, 2008, Orem's self-care theory was used to assess the nursing problems including anxiety about ignorance of operative procedure, risk for perioperative-positioning injury, risk for imbalanced body temperature and infection, inadequate knowledge of surgical wound care, and self-care after discharge. During the perioperative nursing process, the full compensatory, partial compensatory and supportive-educative nursing systems were effectively applied to improve the patient's health problems and promote ability of self-care.
