護理人員臨床教學改善專案

Importance of Clinical Teaching in Improving the Training of Staff Nurses

摘要


臨床教育在護理養成教育中佔極重要之一環,它讓護生將課室所學到之學理,實際運用於病人之實際照顧中。臨床教學之成敗並非僅繫於師生之教學互動是否良好,其中亦包括病房中護理人員之參與與否。本單位於2008.08.04-2008.08.08,以臨床教學滿意度調查問卷,調查單位護理人員臨床教學滿意度(四分法);結果得分平均2.57分。單位人員針對護理人員教學能力不佳原因進行真因查檢,並擬定改善方案共5項:申購教學光碟、申購教學模型及醫學掛圖、舉辦臨床教學教育訓練、設置教學網頁、製作教學手冊。專案實施後,再次調查單位護理人員臨床教學滿意度;結果由2.57分提昇至3.36分。在專案的實施過程中,我們深刻體會,身處於臨床多變情境中之臨床護理人員,應具備充分應變的教學能力。

Nursing is a practical science. Clinical education plays an important role in nursing training because it enables nursing students to practice and apply the theories they learn in the classroom to realtime nursing care of patients in hospitals. In addition, nursing students acquire a better understanding of the nature and role of nursing care as well as raise their awareness of nursing as a lifetime career. From August 4 -8, 2008, our management team surveyed the satisfaction level of nursing staff with clinical teaching. The results yielded an average score of 2.57, a disappointing outcome. Immediately, management conducted a brainstorming session to investigate the reasons for the mediocre score and the root causes of the low satisfaction level. Five key factors were identified: (4) Insufficient practical experience and professional knowledge; (1) The hospital ward environment is not conducive enough for teaching; (2) Not familiar with teaching techniques; (3) Instructors did not adhere to any teaching standards; (5) No suitable teaching materials and equipment were available. From the above findings, management has decided to implement 5 corrective actions or improvement plans: (3) conduct training workshops for instructors the methods of clinical teaching; (2) purchase more apparatus, materials, and posters to facilitate teaching; (1) purchase more teaching CDs; (4) set up a teaching website on ”love education”; (5) produce teaching handbooks or manuals. After implementing the above improvements, a similar survey was conducted again. The satisfaction level increased to 3.36 from the previous 2.57. During implementation of the plans, we realized that clinical teaching not only provided nursing students with the experience of individual study, but also simultaneously provided high quality nursing care to patients. Hence, it is crucial for nursing staff, which work in the ever changing, unpredictable clinical environment, should always remain alert and flexible.
