Due to the expansion of the Tzu-ju sport system in the Tang Dynasty, the diversity of the sport transcended previous dynasties and made important influence on the development of this sport in the later dynasties. This article will present various styles of Tzu-ju play from literary works of Shi (form of poem), Ci(form of poem), Xi-qu (drama), and Xiao-shuo (novel). Shi, Ci, Xi-qu and Xiao-shou were the major literary games of Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties, respectively, which were supposed to be able to extensively portray the evolvement of Tzu-ju within different social classes. These literary works include many themes: subjects of sentiment, scenery and earthly activities. While poets expressed their feelings through theirs works, they also presented how Tzu-ju became more widely accepted and popular throung the passage of dynasties.
