A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that converts the chemical energy of the fuel into electricity. Typical fuels directly fed to the fuel cell include hydrogen and methanol. Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is currently the most promising fuel cell that is posed to commercialize in the very near future. PEMFC includes polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) and direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). The predicted market value of fuel is expected to reach 7 Billion US$. The major obstacle need to overcome before the realization of PEMFC is the development of high performance electrocatalysts.
