The new developments in synthesis methods of single molecule magnets will be introduced. There are two important strategies in synthesis. One is taking the advantage of the flexibility of ligands, and the other is using the multinuclear clusters as starting materials such as [Mn_3O(O_2CR)_6(py)_3]^(o/+) and [Mn_(12)O_(12)(O_2CCH_3)_(16)(H_2O)_4]. The structure and magnetic interactions in [Mn_(25)O_(18)(OH)_2(N_3)_(12)(pdm)_6(pdmH)_6](Cl)_2, which has the record high spin ground state S = 51/2 in single molecule magnets, are described.
