Ideological Interpretation of Jesus' Exorcism of the Gerasene Demoniac

摘要


耶穌在格拉森趕鬼(可5:1-20)是一段吸引人的故事。各個時代的學者曾經以各種方法,從不同的維度研究,也得出各種各樣的結論。本文運用意識形態批判的方法,着重從外部分析和內部分析兩個層面考察這一段經文。就外部分析而言,我們分析當時羅馬間接統治下巴勒斯坦地區的社會政治、經濟結構,在此框架下的權力生成和運行,以及在此處境下主流意識形態和馬可福音作者的意識形態。就內部分析而言,我們發現,作者對他所面對的處境進行「編碼」,將靈界與物質世界聯繫在一起,將神學與社會政治聯繫在一起,再生產出新的意識形態——耶穌是「至高上帝的兒子」,有強大的能力戰勝一切邪惡勢力,包括撒但的勢力,以及羅馬帝國的軍事勢力。由此,作者勸說讀者要信靠上帝兒子耶穌,而不是貌似強大的羅馬帝國,更不是僭稱為神的羅馬皇帝。

The story of the Gerasene demoniac (Mk 5:1-20) is so intrigue that scholars in the past have done their best to apply various methods to analyzing it, and have come to some insightful findings. In this study, we interpret the story through extrinsic analysis and intrinsic analysis, by using the method of ideological criticism. Extrinsic analysis allows us to examine the socio-political and economical structures under which the powers were generated and exercised, and thus to see what is the mainstream ideology and the ideology advocated by the author. Secondly, as to the intrinsic analysis, the author encodes this unfavorable situation and reproduces a new ideology. In the encoding, the author links the spiritual world to the temporal world by insinuating the demon "legion" into the Roman troops, thus also linking theological thoughts to socio-political concepts. The author convinces the reader to believe in Jesus rather than any other ostensibly powerful people, groups, or self-styled gods by presenting his ideology that Jesus, the Son of God, is so powerful that he vanquishes all other evil powers, including satanic power, as well as the Roman empire's military power.
