A Study of an Inquiry-Based Learning Approach on College Students' Online Problem-Solving Abilities

探究式學習法對大學生線上問題解決能力之研究

摘要


Improving students' web-based problem-solving ability has been recognized as an important and challenging issue before they enter job market. This study aims to explore the problem-solving effectiveness and learning attitude of college students toward applying a web-based learning system (Meta-Analyzer) within an inquiry learning activity. Fifty three first-year college students of Business Administration Department participated in the study to experience the intervention of the system. However, it is unsure whether such a learning mechanism is suitable to every learner. Thus, this study examines the effects of human factors on problem-solving effectiveness within the web-based inquiry learning context. Among various human factors, this study focuses on cognitive styles, especially Witken's Field Dependence. The results indicate that Field Independent learners can get great benefits from the learning mechanism. Discussions on how to accommodate the needs of different cognitive styles groups are provided based on the results.

強化學生線上問題解決能力一直被視為是進入職場前重要的問題。本研究主要目的在探討,應用網路搜尋行為輔助測驗與分析系統的探究式學習活動,對大學生的線上問題解決能力與態度的影響。共計60位大學一年級學生參與此研究。然而,這樣的學習機制並不能確定適合每位學生,因此本研究將針對不同認知風格的學生進行學習成效分析。研究結果顯示,場地獨立學習者在這樣的學習機制下獲得學習成效顯著優於場地依賴的學生。最後,基於研究發現針對不同學習風格群體提出處方性建議。
