《堂吉訶德》諺語中譯評析

ANALYSIS OF CHINESE TRANSLATION VERSIONS OF PROVERBS ON 《THE INGENIOUS HIDALGO DON QUIXOTE OF LA MANCHA》

摘要


賽萬提斯的《堂吉訶德》書中所見之諺語多如繁星羅列,點綴於人物對話間,問士四百餘年間隨處可見其影響力,藉由楊絳、董燕生、屠孟超三大完整譯本,使我們得以窺見西班牙文幽默中的智慧,面對諺語諺語這樣富有文化元素的文句時,三位譯者以何種翻譯技巧處之引人探究。 首先就緒論的部分,筆者將說明研究動機與目的、研究方法,而第壹章則對諺語、文化、翻譯三者進行論述,找尋諺語的文化角色,並探討文化與翻譯、諺語與翻譯彼此間之關係;第貳章乃係從西班牙諺語中探索其民族的主流態度語文化模式;第參章及第肆章則為諺語翻譯實例分析,對所選取的三版譯本進行比較,最後提出各章總結、研究困難與感想。

There are plenty of proverbs describing dialogues among figures that niche in the Miguel de Cervantes’s The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha which the legacy of this influential literature can still be found after its first publication more than four hundreds years later. With three grand and comprehensive efforts translated by Yang Jiang, Dung Iang Sheng and Tu Meng Chao, people are able to appreciate the wisdom that spotted in Spanish humors. Also because these proverbs offer abundant cultural factors that make literature richer, it is worthwhile to find out technical skills used by those three translators when dealing with proverbs. In the preface, this author will illustrate motivation, purpose and methodology in the thesis. The first chapter describes relations among proverbs, culture and translation while discussing the role proverbs have in cultural. The second chapter tries to figure out Spanish mainstream attitudes and cultural patterns within their proverbs. Both third and fourth chapter are the collections of proverbs’ translation analyses and the comparisons among three designated translation editions. Summaries from each chapters, difficulties and reflections in the thesis are arranged as conclusion in the end.
