瑞典籍與台籍員工職場跨文化溝通

Cross Cultural Communication At Work Between Swedish and Taiwanese

指導教授 : 郭敏珣

摘要

The purpose of this study is to provide information regarding intercultural communication problems occurred between Swedes and Taiwanese, and tactics for coping with such problems in a Swedish business work setting in Taiwan. Interviews with 10 employees each of Swedish and Taiwanese in Scandinavian Health Limited, SHL, were conducted. Both Swedish and Taiwanese employees were asked to describe their problems in communication with colleagues of the opposite culture, and their understanding to partners’ culture. Several factors that attribute to the difficulty in cross-cultural communication were identified by interview findings, which include language barriers, lack of cultural understanding and expectation to colleagues of the opposite culture. Personal experience given by Swedish and Taiwanese interviewees showed a lack of understanding to cultural difference could form a gap in communication, which eventually leads a potential business failure. It is hoped that information presented can trigger more thoughts, and invite attention of top management who wants to avoid costly lessons that are resulted from the inefficiency of cross-cultural communication.
