摘要

本論文為翻譯實務探討，藉翻譯Donald A. Barr所著「Introduction to U.S. Health Policy: The Organization, Financing, and Delivery of Health Care in America」（中文書名暫譯：《美國健康政策入門：組織、財政與健康照護》）一書之前言與第一章的過程，主要探討紐馬克所提出適合資訊類文本的溝通翻譯方法，與奈達的功能對等理論。溝通翻譯法可以正確且精簡地翻譯出原文，而功能對等可使譯文讀者接收到與原文讀者閱讀時相同的心裡反應，兩者皆適合應用在資訊文本的翻譯中。本論文之第一章為緒論，包括研究動機與目的；第二章為文獻探討，將概略介紹原書內容、紐馬克與奈達的翻譯理論；第三章為研究方法，採用金隄所提出的翻譯步驟，分成三大階段共九個步驟。第四章為譯文；第五章為翻譯實務探討，將探討筆者在翻譯時所遇到的各種翻譯實務問題，也將舉譯文當中的範例說明翻譯技巧的運用；最末第六章為結論。

By translating the Preface and Chapter 1 of “Introduction to U.S. Health Policy: The Organization, Financing, and Delivery of Health Care in America” written by Donald A. Barr, this thesis mainly looks at the translation theories about the best suitable translation method for informative function text that proposed by Peter Newmark, which is the Communicative Translation, and Eugene A. Nida’s Functional Equivalence theory. Chapter 1 states Motivation and the Purpose of the thesis. Chapter 2 provides a brief introduction of Barr’s book and discusses the translation theories. Chapter 3 describes Methodology using Jin Di’s 3-stage, 9-step Translation Procedure. Chapter 4 is the translated text of the Preface and Chapter 1 from “Introduction to U.S. Health Policy”. Chapter 5 covers the issues in practical translation process and explains what and how translation techniques are used in the translated text to deal with some difficult sentences and improve the readability of the translation. The last chapter is the Conclusion of the thesis.
