摘要


超扭轉向列型彩色液晶顯示器具有輕、薄、省電、無輻射、可全彩化等特色,雖然應答速度較薄膜電晶體液晶顯示器慢,但由於其價格低廉、低耗電及廣泛應用性如PDA和手機等,使其在中小型面板領域上仍佔有主流地位。而彩色濾光片是液晶顯示器中最重要的關鍵零組件,也是讓液晶顯示器色彩化的最重要原因。彩色濾光片在生產製造中最重要的規格之一即是色度,色度若符合規格即代表品質。 本論文以超扭轉向列型彩色液晶顯示器之彩色濾光片為例,研究方法主要是以顏料分散法讓顏料光阻均勻塗佈在玻璃基板上,並在黑色矩陣和彩色層製作過程中,使用旋轉塗佈機改變不同膜厚來量測膜厚和光學濃度以及色度座標的關係。期望在製程中早期發現色度的變異,以讓色彩飽和度更佳及減少膜厚塗佈不均的現象並達到客戶滿意之要求。最後對彩色濾光片在保護層製程前後作平坦度的分析,並探討保護層和研磨製程兩種技術優缺點比較。

Color Super Twisted Nematic Liquid Crystal Displays (STN LCDs) have low weight, small volume, economy on electric power, few irradiation, and colored characteristic. Although the response speed slower than Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Displays, the advantage of cheaper price, saving power and popular applications to PDA and mobile phone, hence make them in main stream for middle and small panel area. Color Filter (CF) is one of the most essential materials used in a colorful LCD Panel. One of the most important specifications is chromaticity for CF products that certificates the commercial quality. In this thesis, we employ the CF of Super Twisted Nematic Color Liquid Crystal Displays for researching by Pigment Dispersion Method to investigate dispersing the color resist on the glass substrate. Besides, change in different thin film thickness by respective spinning reveals the relationship between thickness and optics density (OD) the same as thickness and chromaticity coordinates in fabrication process of black matrix (BM) and RGB layers. Early expecting to find out product variations of chromaticity and achieving an appropriate metric saturation level by eliminating an uneven color resist distribution that goal the customer satisfaction. Finally, we compare flatness of color filters between before and after overcoating and discuss on analyzing advantages and faults of overcoat process and polish process.
