ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to design a local education module of sulfur chemistry appropriate for junior high school students. In order to investigate the suitability of this self-designed module, 16 students from junior high school were proposed as testing targets, and teaching activities including pH measurement of water in Di-Jer-Gu lake, the cause of the formation of acidic water in lake, the cause for darken coin, the yellow substances deposited around the spring gas nozzle , preparation of sulfur by nature,and inspection of beautiful sulfur crystals were conducted in sequence. According to the results evaluated through the teaching activities, four conclusions were obtained as follows. 1.No matter what is the students’ achievement in class, the self-designed module can be widely and appropriately used as local education content of sulfur chemistry. 2.The concept of sulfur chemistry for the students can be enhanced by using this self-designed module. 3.After the teaching activities of self-designed module, the students are eagerly to introduce chemical character of sulfur and the formation of sulfur minerals in Pei-tou to the other. 4.Up to 19 items of divided ability indexes of nature and life technology domain in nine-year-curriculum can be prometed by using the self-designed module.
