Shi-da Night Market was a local service for the university and the community by providing the basic life, dietary needs from many different small vendors, but in recent years it has turned into a famous business district within Taipei Night Market and becomes a targeting area that attracts many tourists. All these developments lead to an imbalance for the quality of the local life, triggering the protests from residents after that. In this study, we will discuss the viewpoint of “ public sphere” and its related concepts. In the case of Shi-da Night Market, besides the understanding of the texture and value of the space, we discuss from the space perspective of the private sphere to the public sphere and also expand to the procedure of the protestation that caused by the residents. By observing how the different groups of people organize spontaneously and autonomously altogether, through the discussion of the issue to its “public sphere”, to influence the policy, and to change the system that does not meet the reality's demand. From the Shi-da case, we can find that in Taiwan the private sphere rarely has the concept of public. Unlike the western countries, they developed the public sphere from inside to outside. On the contrary, we have been through many different arguments, during the procedure of the protestation, we found the solution by then. We saw the demands of the different groups, and negotiate the differences of the diversity. Therefore, it turns into a social common understanding, and developed a system that match the local features, finally becomes a reciprocal relationship with the society.
