本研究於2010年7月至2011年11月進行雪山地區酒紅朱雀(Carpodacus vinaceus formosanus)的食性研究,透過目擊調查、繫放研究、排遺採集、血液採集及檢驗、廚餘分析,探討酒紅朱雀在雪山地區的食性組成和偏好,以及廚餘食物對酒紅朱雀的影響。研究結果發現,酒紅朱雀取食食物資源包含植物、廚餘及昆蟲。植物性食物中較偏好黃苑(Senecio nemorensis)和早熟禾(Poa annua),當植物性食物缺乏時,酒紅朱雀取食人工食物的比例會增加。在369山莊前的酒紅朱雀,其目擊與捕獲數量皆受到廚餘影響,廚餘不只是改變了酒紅朱雀的覓食行為、食性組成,還改變了少數個體的遷徙狀況,有少數個體因為雪季可以取食人工食物而沒有往低海拔遷移留置在369山莊。在血液生化值的檢驗中,儘管酒紅朱雀的尿酸值和總膽固醇值不因年齡、性別、繁殖季或非繁殖季而有所顯著差異,而在取食人工食物較多的非繁殖期間,其尿酸值和總膽固醇的平均值是較高的,也有發現少數個體的尿酸值和總膽固醇值有偏高情況。此外,發現有40%酒紅朱雀的嘴喙有沾黏物覆蓋,但對取食尚未造成影響,且也並非永久附著。
This study looked at the diet of Vinaceous Rosefinch (Carpodacus vinaceus formosanus) in Sheishan, Taiwan from July, 2010 to October, 2011. Through direct observation, banding, fecal collection, blood sampling and analysis, and kitchen waste analysis, I explored the diet composition and preference of Vinaceous Rosefinch in Sheishan, as well as the effect of kitchen waste on the population’s physiology. Diet of Vinaceous Rosefinch composed of plants, insects, and kitchen waste. Among plants, Vinaceous Rosefinch preferred Senecio nemorensis and Poa annua. When source of edible plants was scarce, the proportion of kitchen waste in the finches’ diet would increase. The detecting and capturing rate of Vinaceous Rosefinch at 369 Hut were influenced by the present of kitchen waste. Kitchen waste not only influenced the foraging behavior and diet composition of the rosefinch, it also altered the migratory behavior of several individuals, who would supposedly migrate to lower altitudes during snowing seasons. Results from serum chemistry revealed that levels of uric acid and total cholesterol were not different between age, sex, and breeding and non-breeding seasons, but the mean values of uric acid and total cholesterol were higher during the months when the proportion of kitchen waste in the diet was high. In addition, 40% of the captured individuals had unidentified materials attached to their beaks. However, these attachments didn’t seem to affect the finches’ ability to forage, nor were these attachments perpetual.
