Morality has been an important concern among researchers in the field of physical education. As it stands, how to develop students into good citizens with good character is generally considered to be part of physical education. A key figure that has promoted the incorporation of character building into physical education is Don Hellison, professor of the University of Illinois, whose Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility Model (henceforth TPSR) is a framework intended to teach discipline and moral principles to students through physical education. The present study aims to introduce its origin, levels, definition, implementation, and empirical research couched within this framework.
