是皇民文學？還是抗議文學（二）－論陳火泉的〈道〉

日據時代，以日文發表在西川滿所主編的《文藝臺灣》，被日人視為皇民文學代表作的陳火泉小說〈道〉，光復後卻受到臺灣文評家的質疑，首先陳少廷提出這是篇描繪了當時臺灣人皇民化的苦悶、矛盾和衝突的小說，而葉石濤也認為這是篇可看作是臺灣人抗拒皇民化的心理掙扎記錄。但是在葉石濤與鍾肇政主編《光復前臺灣全集》時，其他的編輯卻又認為這是一篇不折不扣的皇民文學，而不願為其翻譯成中文，也不同意將這篇作品收錄在該全集當中。因此陳火泉只好自己翻譯出來，並撰文交代他創作這篇小說的動機和原由，最後再將這篇自譯的〈道〉交由鍾肇政，將其發表在《民眾日報》副刊上連載。而究竟〈道〉是怎樣的一篇作品，為何會引起類如「皇民文學」與「反皇民文學」等如此爭議的評斷。因此本篇論文即期望透過對陳火泉自譯的〈道〉之內容，作細部的解讀分析與探討，再配合作者對該篇小說所憶述創作的詮釋說明，試圖來還原作者創作這篇小說的真正意圖，並藉以為這篇具有皇民文學爭議的作品作一歷史定位。
